Be A Hero
When You Retire

Why Is the Hero’s journey relevant to you?

This Guide examines the different stages of the Hero’s Journey, how it mirrors your life transition, and how understanding and, more importantly, embarking on the Hero’s Journey  YOUR JOURNEY — is precisely what you need to do right now.

Because if you don’t secure the foundational elements outlined in this Guide, many of your transitional efforts will likely fall short and you will continue to struggle

ISOLATION

Through all your years as the Leader, you have been trained to put on the ‘mask of authority’ and to keep your feelings, doubts, and stresses to yourself. Since the transition courses are not well designed for your situation, you tough it out on your own. Confident… Dependable… Successful… But never unmasked.

REJECTION

This presents itself in two ways:

HELP: You regularly decline any form of help; this includes an outright refusal to ask for help, nor will you accept help when it’s offered.

INWARD: This feels like a death in the family as though you’ve been abandoned; OR that the love of your life has left you for a younger man; OR you’ve dedicated your blood, sweat, and tears, but suddenly this legacy has turned its back on you.

DISTORTION

This too shows up in two conditions:

PURPOSE: Mistaking achievement for fulfillment; as in ‘if I stop working so hard, this will all go away and I cease to be an elite leader.’

INTERNAL: You were deceived by the system and thus deceived yourself all along regarding your true worth; it has been distorted. Without really knowing what your true worth is, you seek recognition for fear of anonymity.

Whether you are approaching your retirement, right in the middle of it, or you have been retired for a year or more, what awaits you is the invitation to become a Hero

Become a Hero When You Retire

I wanted to support those retiring Senior Military Service Members
who are committed to creating the requisite foundation
that strengthens and accelerates their transitional efforts.

This Guide provides you with the crucial elements by which you can and should exploit for success.
I’ve outlined the entire process – and I review it in this video below.

About Me

Like you, I identified myself as a Leader.

In retirement, I was faced with a choice: 1) accompany my peers down the path of the common “next chapter” careers and risk the dangers of conforming; OR 2) explore my desire for authenticity and autonomy.

So initially, there I was, like all the rest of the retirees, looking for the “normal” job, sensing that this path wasn’t right for me, and also recognizing that I wasn’t sure what the “right career for me” even looked like.

Things changed dramatically when I chose to ignore all the conventional ideas about transitioning, and instead explored other options, starting with my previously unexplored Untold Wants. Gaining clarity took the form of a spontaneous walkabout of the U.S. National Parks in search of people who possess the charm of originality.

While walking the trails of this beautiful country, I found my “next chapter” – a career even more aligned with my values, strengths, and purpose – and one that embodies the impact that I want to create for myself and the individuals I serve.

I share my story with my clients so it inspires each of them to share and pursue their own Untold Wants.

I believe that the more a person understands their values, strengths, and purpose, the more richness of life they will experience, because it integrates their internal beliefs and thoughts to their external actions and behaviors, and thus enables them to achieve the results they truly want.
